So my question is, is this normal? and why is this doing this to my
machine and is there anyway to stop snmp for hammering the machine? is
there another way of getting this information out of my system without
hammering it?
Nope, not normal. I used MRTG for years until just recently when I
switched to LRRD. I've never had my machine slow down because of MRTG
querying SNMP. All of my machines are greatly underpowered compared
to yours.
