You may not be, but it sounds like your motherboard is. I say that because
it won't boot from any medium.

Before you hit the panic button you might try removing your hard drive and
putting it in another machine. If you can still see the Debian partition(s)
and files on it you know you can recover the data, even if it won't boot.

Once you have a motherboard that will boot, you can start with Knoppix or a
floppy and fix your lilo problem. (A permanent fix would be to switch to
grub :)
