Your XF86Config-4 Module section loads following modules:

Section "Module"
        Load "GLcore"
        Load "bitmap"
        Load "dbe"
        Load "ddc"
        Load "dri"
        Load "extmod"
        Load "freetype"
        Load "glx"
        Load "int10"
        Load "pex5"
        Load "record"
        Load "speedo"
        Load "type1"
        Load "vbe"
        Load "xie"
EndSection

Use following command to regenerate a XF86Config-4 without the GLcore,
dri and glx modules:
# dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

I had the same problem with an i810e and an i815. I removed the modules
and it works now. But beware, not all i810's have this problem. I have
an older(?) i810e which worked with the modules. It seems that XFree86
4.1.0 has not all i810 supported. If you need the dri and glx modules
for e.g. 3d stuff I recommend to upgrade to 4.2.1 (look at
http://www.apt-get.org/ for woody backports).

So long
Thomas
