Firstly, I think you are mistaken with the model number. I think it
should be ALC-650. I have a gigabyte motherboard, 7va-c, which also has
the 5 channel realtek chipset with AC'97. 

For using this sound card with its capabilities of 5.1 sound, you should
use the alsa libraries. You can read up, but as far as i can remember
you should have a custom build kernel with sound-core enabled, then
install the alsa-source from the standard debian source list. Go to your
/usr/src directory and extract the tar file. Then read through the
installation guide in modules/alsa-driver. This should help you with
this chipset.
