OK, you can go ahead and remove that smbfs package and get
kernel-source-$KVERS and kernel-package
See the documentation in /usr/share/doc/kernel-package on how to
recompile, when you get to make menuconfig, load the config at
/boot/config-$KVERS and in the filesystem section, say Y or M to the
smbfs option.
