# xf86config-4 bash: xf86config-4: command not found I did find xf86config and it works. According to /var/log/XFree86.0.log it is using XF86Config-4 because I see it in the above log. The xf86config does not give mode lines with all those magic numbers like: ModeLine "1280x1024" 135.00 1280 1296 1440 1688 1024 1025 1028 1066 +hsync +vsync and I still don't know why there is not xf86config-4 on my system. Is this a knoppix weirdness? Haioken Sendonoshin wrote:

I tried and got: # dpkg-reconfigure xfree86 Package `xfree86' is not installed and no info is available. Use dpkg --info (= dpkg-deb --info) to examine archive files, and dpkg --contents (= dpkg-deb --contents) to list their contents. /usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: xfree86 is not installed There was something maybe xconfigurator on redhat, but the dpkg-reconfigure seems the right way to me (a novice) to do this on debian if I could get it to work??? Thanks in advance.
