post-kernel-compile lilo problem

Hey,
I recently compiled a kernel according to the Debian way like this:

After dpkg -i kernel-image there is an error at the lilo test:
Fatal: open /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/part1: No such file or
directory

Before this, Lilo worked. I tried uninstalling the kernel and
reinstalling the old, and compiling a kernel the old way, and googling
and manning; but can find no reference to this problem.

Any hints? Thanks.
