The ctrl-alt-backspace behaviour can be set in the /etc/X11/XF86Config (or
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4) by inserting
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "DontZap"
EndSection
If that section already exists, just add the Option line. Now X shouldn't exit
on the combination anymore.
