Hi,
I got a new Compaq Evo D300 and installed Woody in it. But I faces
problem with the network card and mouse (gpm)
The network card is a intel Ether Express pro 100, lspci output from
Redhat 9 is:
05:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corp. 82801BD PRO/100 VE (LOM)
Ethernet Controller (rev 81)
Subsystem: Compaq Computer Corporation: Unknown device 0091
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 66, IRQ 5
Memory at fc500000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]
I/O ports at 1000 [size=64]
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2
The problem is that the stock eepro100 driver does not support this, So
I downloaded the latest from http://www.scyld.com/network/eepro100.html,
to compile it I had to get the kernel source for the bf24 kernel I
was running. But I could not get it, So got the 2.4.18 kernel compiled
it loaded he module and nic was running.
But I do not want to use a compiled kernel, actually I do not want to
mix packaged stuff and home grown stuff, so is there any way to compile
the module for stock bf24 kernel? or to use the e100 module, RH9 uses
that. bf24 kernel do not come with e100 module.
Next is mouse:
The mouse is a re branded logitech PS/2 mouse. I tried all the various
combinations in gpmcomfig but could not get it running :( Any one with
any success story here?
Thanks in Advance
raj
