Ok, I'd like to thank everyone who contributed for the help. The problem got solved in the end, it turned out to be an APIC problem after all, Shuttle mobo's seem to be known to have that problem. Booting with noapic alone didn't help, but after I turned APIC support off in the bios, it did. -- Alex Borghgraef
