Not sure if this message will go through (because I am not subscribed
to
any group as such). I have a Linux machine running Debian version:
2.4.20-cgl-1.1-mckinley-smp
I was wondering if Ethernet Bonding has been successfully configured
on
Debian?...
I did it on RedHat using the Active/Standby policy, and it worked
beautifully. I tried
configuring it similarly on Debian and observed a few problems:
Tried to ifenslave eth0 and eth1 onto the bond0 interface. I would
expect the MAC
address of eth0, eth1, and bond0 to be exactly the same (for example
eth0's MAC address).
On the Debian machine, I saw bond0 and eth0 have the same MAC,
but eth1 had its own MAC!!!
I DONT want to use the default "round-robin" policy and would like to
change the
mode = 1, (Active / Standby). On a RedHat machine, I would define these
policies
in the /etc/modules.conf file, but on Debian I am not sure how I would
specify
these policies?...
If anyone could answer my questions, or point me to documents that have
info
on implementing and configuring Ethernet Bonding on Debian, I would
greatly
appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Rezaul Hasan.
