Starting fetchmail as init script

Hi yall,
I played around with my init scripts and of course I broke somthing....
I have removed a few services from runlevel 2, which I don't want to start at
bootup, but now my /etc/init.d/fetchmail script fails on startup.
The message follows:
Starting mail retrieval agent: fetchmail/etc/init.d/fetchmail: line 178: 3674
Speicherzugriffsfehler start-stop-daemon ${START} "--command=${DAEMON}
${OPTIONS}" ${RUNUSER} 0>&- >/dev/null 2>&1
(failed!)
Fetchmail runs, if I
$# su fetchmail
and execute
$# fetchmail -f /etc/fetchmailrc
I don't really remember which links I have removed from /etc/rc2.d.
masqmail is my smtp server and runs.
I don't have any clue what could be wrong so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Robert
