Actually there are two different kinds of "points" that I know of:
Anglo-American point (1 point = 0.013833 inches) and a Didot (French) point (1
point = 0.376mm). As far as I know only the Anglo-American is used in
digital typorgraphy; however, at least one other "point" exists for the
print world.
