The SBLive sure is, by the emu10k1 kernel driver. For the surround
sound thingys, you'll need to use ALSA, however.

I think the usb modem would work, too, but google would know for sure...

The zip and dvd driver should Just Work. The only trick is to remember
that you need to mount partition 4 of the zip disks, and the raw device
for the dvd-rom. The CD Writing howto explains in squite some detail
how to get your cd writer working.  It's even easier on Debian though;
install 'kernel-image-2.4.18-<arch>', where arch is one of 386, 686,
etc, and then load the needed modules.

Definitely. Installing read-edid *before* X can help here, too.

To the OP: all Debian-related questions are welcome here, but you're
more likely to get help if you show that you've done work yourself, too.

Some tips for when you get stuck:
* the installation guide
* google
* newbiedoc.sf.net
* qref.sf.net
* #debian on irc.freenode.net
* Here :)
