Possible bug during first boot

Everything was going sooo well....then i got the following message:

probable hardware bug: clock timer config lost probably a VIA686a
probable hardware bug: restoring chip

i tried to work through this message -- figuring it wasn't hampering
things. this worked for awhile but eventually led to confusion during the
tasksel session. several reboots didn't solve the problem.

i installed compact debian using disks (i368) and via http on a KDS
manufactured valiant 367iPT. i hope this is enough info. i can't find the
"what to report" section of the manual.

any ideas about what may be wrong?
