Problem with default X fonts encoding

Hi,

I am new in Debian and I have a problem with setting of a default fonts encoding in X. When I run xterm or other programs, iso8859-1 fonts are used. I know, I I can use for example:
XTerm*font: -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-2
but is there some "debian" way, how to select default font encoding?

Thanks

Radek
