* netfilter/iptables instead of ipchains: Better packet filtering,
  e.g. stateful filtering, many more matches on packets with lots of
  kernel modules which can be easily be written.

* File systems: ext3, reiserfs, tmpfs (RAM based FS that shares the
  swap space), devfs (device file system)

* Bett^WNew VM (virtual memory) system

* Better USB support
