     Are you using DHCP?  dhcp_client writes the /etc/resolv.conf when
it gets a lease from the dhcp_server.   /etc/dhclient.conf may be
configured to prepend or append additional domains to
/etc/resolv.conf.  See dhclient.conf (5).
