With debian you can create a script with the commands you wish
to run and stick the file in /etc/cron.daily and the file will
be run daily.

Look in the file /etc/crontab to see or change the time that you
would like the files in /etc/cron.daily to be run.

That saidi, I seem to remember some people warning against upgrading
one's system automatically. The choice, of course, is yours. Hope
someone will write in and advise you on the wisdom of such a choice.
