Hello,
I read an article on this subject called SRM Firmware howto document from the Linux site and have some questions regarding this installation process.
System/goal: Install Debian GNU/Linux (ver 3.0 Woody) on my alpha (from CD). The server is a 4/266, 1000a server and I would like it to co-exist with Digital UNIX already installed. My system has rz26L (1GB SCSI) and two rz25B(4GB wide SCSIs)drives.
Question #1. Do I need to create two new partitions /dev/sda1 and sda2 for Linux first?
Also: I have determined that Digital Unix exists on these two (/dev/rrz1a and /dev/rrz1g) partitions. This article states that I must explicitly add the line ":ta=unused:tb=swap:tg=4.2BSD:th=resrvd8" to the disktab in order for Linux to be recognized and boot properly. Does this mean just to the end of the disktab entry for my rz26L Partition (shown below)? Has anyone done this and can anyone elaborate in more detail for me?

Kind regards,
