Hmmmm, based on the output you provide it looks like you have all the
modules loaded, with the possible exception of snd-seq-oss.  You didn't
however provide a process listing (ps ax).  I suspect from your statement
of "they all hang" that something else has control of your sound output. 
Also, you may want to ensure that permissions are correct on /dev/dsp and
/dev/mixer, the later would appear to be correct based on your statement
of alsamixer appearently working, and the former would appear to be
correct as the applications don't error out with a permissions problem. 
But, it never hurts to be sure about these things.
