If testing were renamed 3.x and unstable 4.x, that would be *more*
confusing than the current naming scheme. You need to consider the
actual relationship between those distributions.

I think the current names do just fine for their intended audiences. I
really want unstable users to be quite familiar with the system so that
the support load doesn't become unmanageable when some minor routine
thing breaks in unstable and people don't know the standard steps for
handling it.
