Well, you'll only have to re-download them if you need the .debs again,
like if you need to reinstall them. Once a package has been installed,
you generally don't need to keep the .deb around . It helps on unstable
sometimes when the latest version of a package breaks something and
you want to roll back to the older version -- then you appreciate having
the .deb sitting there in /var/cache/apt/archives.
