xfce, gnome and kde

Hi all,

This question is just a general trawl of opinion rather than a request for help.

I have a celeron 400 with 64MB RAM laptop runnning sid with x working (hurrah!)

I am using enlightenment.  ITs stable but I can copy or paste using select and right click.

What do XFCE, Gnome and KDe provide that adds to the Window Manager?  Do I need them?  If I do, will I waste my respources runnig Gnome and KDE apps or should I stick to a "pure" gnome or kde environment.

Just wondering what extra I could get by choosing one of them.
