RTFM please. .xsession and .xinitrc are both used and have different
meanings. If .xinitrc exists, it will be parsed INSTEAD of the
systemwide xinitrc script. IIRC the .xsession file will be never parsed.
IIRC the x-login-managers do also NOT read the .xinitrc file, but
.xsession.
If .xsession exists, it will be parsed from the systemwide initrc script
so it should work fine. In addition, this file is read by
xdm/kdm/wdm/gdm, so it makes more sense to use .xsession.
