Special case of VPN : how can I do this ?

Hi,

I'd like to setup a VPN between my own computer and a computer in my
university, on which, of course, I don't have root access.
On my own computer, all solutions are acceptable. The university
computer is a Sun Solaris. The goal is to initiate connections from my
host : no connections will be initiated from the Univ. computer/network.
The main usage will be to browse through the intranet. Of course, I
could tunnel using SSH, but it is a bit fastidious to use. Actually, I'd
like something like an ssh tunnelling which automatically opens
connections to the remote host, on demand.

Does someone has ideas on how to achieve this ?
