More and more interesting kernel freezes on Woody
Hi,
I have posted a few comments on problems related to what appear to be my
sound driver <opl3sa2> and my kernel <2.4.18>. Whenever I enable esd <in
gnome> or aRTs <in kde> the boxe freezes at startup <while attempting to
play startup sound>. If I disable the sound daemon at startup on each
desktop all works fine <including playing sounds with "play">. I have
been using the system in this configuration <until I can figure out where
the issue is...>. I have installed the flash deb and websites that
include sound with their flash animation eventually crash the box <iced
solid like in can't kill X, can't get a term, won't respond to ping...>.
Any suggestions as to what the problem is, where to look, what list <if
this one is not appropriate>, what FM I should R, or anything else would
be appreciated.
tia
