The key you're searching for is a combined Samba/NFS/NIS odr openLDAP environment. openLDAP keeps your user database and lets you manage the entire network (similiar to ActiveX or Zen) and your shares are handled by NFS and Samba to give the Windows Clients the ability to connect to the NFS shares.
