The switch is an el-cheap model that I bought from Fry's Electronics, it is
a Hawking Technologies 8 port mini switch. (It is small, the AC power
adaptor that came with it is bigger than the switch.) According to the
directions on the box, it is fully auto negotiating of speed (10Mbs/100Mbs)
as well as communications mode (half/full duplex).

I'm creating a large 20Mb file with this command:
dd if=/dev/zero of=foo bs=1m count=20
and then scp'ing it between the machines.

That will be my next step.
