IDE and IRQ errors with Debian 3.0?

Hello,

I installed Debian 3.0, with the 2.2 series kernel, in my AMD Athlon MP
2000, with an Asus A7M266-D motherboard, chipset AMD 760MPX. Later I
upgraded the kernel to 2.4.19.

I configured the 2.4.19 kernel without SMP support and without APIC
support (the only configuration that works in my machine, if I either
configure SMP or APIC the kernel hangs with the error "APIC error on
CPU0: 04(04)").

The machine is working, but during boot the kernel outputs the following
"errors":

----------------------------------------------------------------------
AMD7441: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 39
AMD7441: chipset revision 4
AMD7441: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
AMD7441: disabling single-word DMA support (revision < C4)
    ide0: BM-DMA at 0xb800-0xb807, BIOS settings: hda:pio, hdb:DMA
    ide1: BM-DMA at 0xb808-0xb80f, BIOS settings: hdc:pio, hdd:pio

hdc: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8)
hdc: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8)
hdc: no response (status = 0x0a), resetting drive
hdc: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8)

hdd: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8)
hdd: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8)
hdd: no response (status = 0x0a), resetting drive
hdd: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8)
hdd: no response (status = 0x0a)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

As I said before, until now, the machine is working but I would like to
know if the messages above are really errors and the consequences of
keeping using this kernel. Also the machine takes a long time to boot
with these errors.

Has anyone experienced this kind of problem and/or knows what it means?

Regards,
