what kind of switch? I would login to the switch and see what the
port is set to. the driver will automatically negotiate the most
compadible form of communication(NWAY). You can override this
using the eepro diagonstic tools but I would not reccomend this, it
can produce unpredictable results. The main author of the eepro
module always reccomends against forcing the NIC into any particular
mode, let it do NWAY.

I believe it can also tell you what the card is currently set to

eepro mailing list, the author answers a lot of questions there.
