Alien can not deal with things as daemons and it seems that your package
is one.
The better solution would be to download the tar.gz file (you have it,
uh? You want compile), debianize and distribute it.
It's not so difficult and you will have a lot of brains willing to help
you.
Another suggestion: contact with qmail debian maintainer.
