apt-get install termcap-compat

It is still available, and I suspect that there are still a few
programs, particularly outside the managed package environment, that
haven't made the switch yet. Having come from the days of termcap and
all manner of different terminals (the University of Waterloo was a very
substantial client of the cross-town Volker-Craig terminals - including
some of the most eccentric terminals ever built, such as the VC 303,
which scrolled two lines at a time), it is nostalgic to dig through the
file and read the comments on each design - many *very honest* catty
observations.
