/dev/modem permissions rewritten
yo list,
somewhere along the course of installing gworkspace, the permissions on
/dev/modem on my machine were rewritten, reset to a default installation
state, which, in turn, blew out authorized group users on my system.
gworkspace is available as a .deb. i lived, up to now, under the supposition
that, according to policy, such behavior, by any debianized package, is a
serious violation. i'm about to file a bug on this, but i'd also appreciate
hearing--on the list--from anyone else who has noticed any such involuntary
rewriting of any permissions on any /dev/file that occured when installing
gnu libs of any sort, in the event that gworkspace isn't the only likely
culprit.
