I have just updated my kernel from 2.4.19-k7-2 to 2.4.19-k7-3 and have exactly
the same problem. I suspect that it is something to do with mkinitrd that
gets run as the kernel gets installed and makes the initrd image as it does
this (or at least that seems to be the time on my initrd image).
The changelog shows a key change last friday
