RE: ifup, dhcp troubleshooting
Well you could try configuring with a static address, and prove the
hardware, network is actually working ok.
I recently had a similar problem, I had to add a couple of modules to my
kernel (2.4.18) and recompile.
CONFIG_PACKET and CONFIG_FILTER I think
