PPP Problem: Couldn't set tty to PPP discipline

I've been battling for a while to get my dialup ISP to work with debian,
to no avail. I've reached an impasse at this point and need some more
help.

When I use KPPP to connect to my ISP I get the error:
"Couldn't set tty to PPP discipline: Invalid argument"

Here is the output of pppd:

I think it may be related to the lines

(none):remotepeername
# 192.168.0.1:192.168.0.2

in the file /etc/ppp/options.ttyS2. This is because when I change it I
get a slightly different error.

Anyway, thank you for your help, in advance.

Sincerely,
Denver Coneybeare
