Hi Tom,

I think you misunderstood me greatly. I don't want to easure the bandwidth, I 
want to transmit so many packets over the line that it would be like 500 - 
1000 mbps in real life. I want to see how the computer on the other end of 
the line performs.
The two computers are directly connected with no other hardware in between.
on the recieving computer runs a data analyzer. I want to find out what kind 
of CPU and memory I need if I put this data analyzer on a real high loaded 
gigabit backbone to sniff the traffic.
