I've spent most of the last three days trying to get some 
sort of X thing working after installing woody from CDs.  
I finished up by removing .fvwm/fvwm2rc and .xinitrc and 
it works well enough for me now.  But I've learnt to be 
satisfied with very little that really works ;)
