Several Debian people are closely involved with the Linux Standards Base
(Matt Taggart and Joey Hess at least, probably others). Note the
existence of the lsb and lsbdev packages, and that several of the LSB
lists are hosted on lists.debian.org.

Matt Taggart gave a talk on the LSB at the last Debian conference, and
it was quite clear there that Debian is going to comply with the LSB as
much as possible. The issue of certification came up, and it was pointed
out that LSB people regard it as very important to the success of the
standard that Debian be certified. So yes, it is being worked on.
