strange messages in latest version of samba

I am using version 2.999+3.0cvs20020723-1 which is what I got on my
last Debian upgrade and I get a lot of messages from convert_string
like the following:

Aug  1 14:47:56 ccs smbd[20472]:   convert_string: Required 19,
available 32

and lots of messages like the following:

Aug  1 15:52:30 ccs smbd[21321]:   make_server_info_guest:
getpwnam_alloc() failed on guest account!

Why are these happening and how can I stop them?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
