1) Unless you did it, try fuser -v -m /dev/md0. I've been dealing
with computers for too long to be even a little sure unless I see things
what they are. You can then use fuser -k to kill processess accessing your
filesystem and umount it.
2) That's probably a silly question, but /dev/md0 isn't your root
filesystem, is it? Don't forget that you always use a directory somewhere
within / - you can't just umount it, you can however remount it with
different options (see mount manual).
