download the 'right set of floppy" off the net...
right set of fd --> for your pc and distro you want
ftp ftp.debian.org
cd /debian/dists/woody/main/disks-i386/3.0.23-2002-05-21
- make sure you have "good floppies" ... it does a lot of checking
of the fd media before writing to it.. and mroe checking afterward
get the boot the floppies... install the 3 fd as it asks..
select your packages... and d/l rest of it off the net
