Hi everyone,
Well, I tried Torsten's advice and xmms wouldn't accept any output option but oss -- which, if I understand correctly, ought to work with alsa's oss-emulation, right? Anyway, I thought there might be some problem and installed esound, but I don't seem to be able to launch it -- when I type esd -d /dev/dsp I get "device busy". I checked using modconf and lsmod, by the way, and both of the oss modules that come with alsa (snd-pcm-oss and snd-pcm-mixer) are checked and running, though snd-pcm-oss doesn't seem to be used by any other modules.
Is there a good how-to on esd that will make it clear whqaqt I should do?
thanks,
matt
