Fonts in Netscape and Acrobat Reader

Assuming I got my search keys right, this hasn't been discussed yet.

Problem: in Netscape and in Acrobat, the *menu* and dialog box fonts all
appear as rectangles.

System: Woody
  	kernel 2.4.18
	KDE 2.2.2
Netscape version: can't tell since "Help About" is all rectangles
Acrobat version: can't tell since "Help About" is all rectangles

I usually use KMail and other browsers (e.g., mozilla, konqueror), so this
isn't often a problem, but it crops up whenever I view a .pdf file. This
problem appeared to start when I switched to Woody. Is there a
configuration file somewhere which needs resetting?

   Thanks, all!

   James
