Re: backup using rsync



I agree Ron,
I like to setup a desginated backup folder somewhere on the system.
Then I run local tar commands to backup stuff into that folder.
Rsync is used to backup that folder to a remote machine.
Usually, a backup is needed and you can recover from the local backup.
One bad thing about this is that hard drive space can fill up quickly
because you may have a backup for Monday, Tuesday, bi monthly etc etc.

I think there's a deb called amanda or something.
Haven't tried it yet.
