Hi Thomas,

I haven't tried gphoto although many people recommend it. I address my camera
(Casio QV 3500 EX) as a usb mass-storage device and then I simply use a file
manager (such as mc or konqueror) to view pictures and transfer them to my 
hard disk. I think it requires a relatively new kernel, though.
