Christian Marillat regularly posts a "GNOME 2 summary" to the
debian-gtk-gnome list; see the archives of that list for a detailed status.
The short version is, more or less, most of the GNOME 2 versions of
applications are available in project/exþerimental rather than unstable.

I'm not following KDE3 closely but IIRC there are preliminary packages
available; details on http://www.debianplanet.org/.
