Do you know what package(s) you last installed? I just had the same parse
error after installing phpnuke, with apt-get then not wanting to do
anything. dpkg continued to work without problems. As a test, I removed
the section relating to phpnuke from /var/lib/dpkg/status (803 lines!)
and apt-get is happy again.

Although I didn't need that this time, I'd also like to know if this is
possible. I couldn't find an option in apt-get or dpkg that would do this.
