Evaluating MTA's

Hi All,

Not wanting to start Holy Wars, but I'm involved in setting up a replacement
e-mail gateway for a company, and I'm wondering what I good choice of MTA
would be.

A bit of background. This is going to be the point at which all e-mail,
incoming or outgoing, will pass as it goes from the internal network to the
internet. Company size of about 2-300 people, but no mailing lists. All mail
will be forwarded to one of several MS-Exhange servers, so no local delivery
to worry about. Depending on how heavy the loading on the machine is, we may
decide to put some Spam/Virus checking/bouncing work on it.

The machine we're replacing currently runs sendmail, but I don't want to go
with sendmail just for that reason. Only if it's the best thing for the job.

Does anybody have any opinions on what would be best?
Are there any resources out there that will give me a good overview of all
the MTAs?

Thanks

Paul
